Second year Math/CS double-honours student Jennifer Hood's drawing of the Tic Tac Toe graph has won first-place in the Graph Drawing Contest at the Annual Symposium on Graph Drawing and Network Visualization (GD 2015).

The symposium, which is sponsored by Microsoft, Tom Sawyer Software, and yWorks, focuses on graph drawing, the geometric representation of graphs that constitutes the algorithmic core of network visualization. Part of the symposium is the annual Graph Drawing Contest that presents challenge graphs for participants to draw. Contest entries are judge based on aesthetic and the clarity of information displayed.

The winning drawing shows all 765 possible board configurations (after removing symmetric configurations) and 2096 possible moves in a game of Tic Tac Toe. For her winning drawing, Jennifer receives a winner's certificate and $200 cash from the contest's sponsors.
